Irina Avkhimovich (Ph.D. Candidate, Slavic Languages and Literatures) won a School of Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics (SLCL) Dissertation Completion Fellowship for 2014-2015.
Jovana Babovic (Ph.D. Candidate, History) won the Joseph Ward Swain Publication Prize for her article “Municipal Regulation of Entertainment in Interwar Belgrade,” which appeared in the journal Istrazivanja.
Benjamin Bamberger (Ph.D. Student, History) won the Frederick S. Rodkey Memorial Prize in Russian History to recognize him as an outstanding graduate student in Russian and East European History for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Lauren Deutsch (Slavic Languages and Literatures) received the Outstanding Senior award from the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures.
Patryk Reid (Ph.D. Candidate, History) was named an Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities (IPRH) Graduate Fellow for 2014-2015. The fellowship will allow him to develop his dissertation project “Managing Nature, Constructing the State: The Material Foundation of Soviet Empire in Tajikistan, 1917-37.”
